I found the Calico Centre last September………thank goodness I have!! The
atmosphere as you walk in is just so welcoming and tranquil; Sue is
soooo warm and friendly. I had never had a floatation therapy so was
looking forward to the experience and I must say it was FANTASTIC. I
was so relaxed. I booked a course of treatments which is excellent
value for money.
I have also had other holistic treatments combined with floatation,
and I must say the therapists are professional, friendly and extremely
good at what they do. I highly recommend the Calico Centre ….Go on
book a treatment…. You will not be disappointed.

the calico centre whilst on holiday. She gave me a good explanation of

My experience in the tank was as sue had described and I felt relaxed

Equine Reiki Testimonial
Nicola has been treating my two thoroughbreds, William and Hugh, since
December 2009 with great success. She first attended William who was
suffering from a pulled shoulder muscle and after just one session he
was walking sound and made a full recovery within days.
Nicola has a hypnotic affect on William who completely relaxes under
her healing hands and clearly relishes the treatments. He goes into an
almost trance-like state and the benefits are long-lasting and
continuous. Hugh came to me, homeless and unwanted, in September 2008.
I know little of his history but it was obvious that he was
traumatised and distressed having been forced to leave his home of 16
years.
Nicola has worked tirelessly and intelligently to help Hugh. Hugh
fought Nicola resolutely and persistently throughout the whole first
session. However, Nicola is patient, knowledgeable and very competent.
She has been around horses and worked with them all her life and she
is able to read them, understand them and treat them according to each
one’s particular needs.
She has gradually built up Hugh’s confidence in her and in himself.
She used oils to massage him during the second session to great
affect. He has made persistent and steady progress and I am pleased to
report that by the sixth session when I peeped over the stable door I
saw a relaxed, happy and content Hugh calmly receiving Nicola’s warm
healing.
Hugh still misses his old home (he is still as mystified as I am as to
why he was no longer wanted) but with tons of love and the help of
Nicola’s administrations he has settled and feeling better about
himself and his new life generally. I highly recommend Nicola’s Reiki
treatments for you and your horse.

My first connection with the Calico Centre was a very friendly voice
on the other end of the phone. When I arrived there for my first
Float, I was given a really warm welcome by Sue and David, the owners.
I am not a novice to Floating, but in a sense every Float is a first
Float, and every Floatation centre has its own atmosphere.
I was given a thorough tour around including the fascinating Aquatics
Centre and David’s amazing Trike!
The Float tank is helping me heal a severe neck whiplash I had from a
road accident. Every Float brings more release from the trauma, giving
strength and confidence into that delicate area. Also, as the muscles
become more and more relaxed and aligned, so also the emotions and
mental thought patterns are changing. I’ve also released a huge amount
of tension in my Solar Plexus, Jaw and Sciatic Nerve.
I usually practice the slow breathing recommended and enjoy watching
my whole self go into deeper states of relaxation and healing – much
better than watching TV! I think one of the many benefits of the Float
tank is its ability to re-connect in a very positive way with one’s
body – a very joyful re-union goes on in that watery, dark, warm
place.
My sessions having Crystal Reiki with Nicola have also brought me back
in touch with my spirituality and joy of being alive. The love and
reiki healing that pours out of her hands is so comforting and her
beautiful crystals “speak” their healing wisdom into my whole being.
I look forward to using other therapies and “goodies” at the Centre
and although I’m moving up to Edinburgh soon, will that stop me from
coming back – NOT LIKELY!
I always feel very positive and peacefully energised after visits to
the Calico Centre and have even been thoroughly spoilt by being
chauffeured on David’s trike – WOW!

Hi Sue,
Yes we all had a very relaxing and enjoyable day. I can’t really
explain the feeling I had throughout my Indian Head Massage with Paul
but the overall effect was fantastic, releasing some knots in my neck
and I certainly went off to another planet or somewhere. Top of my
list to do again! The Floatation tank was very relaxing and a
different experience for me.

"I have visited the Calico centre four or five times now. The
aromatherapy massage by Nicola is excellent. She has good technique,
and the facilities are well set-up. They have a sensory tank, that
looks like it would be very enjoyable but I haven't yet tried it. It
is a worthwhile place to visit and give a try."
