Thai Massage

What is Traditional Thai Yoga Massage?

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient healing art, which has its roots in India and is widely used in Thailand and Western countries today. It concentrates on an energy line system through which the body’s natural life force (prana) flows. Blockages in this life force may cause aches, pains and disease.

The massage is applied through the therapist’s use of hands, feet and elbows to apply pressure to important points along the energy lines, in combination with gentle stretching and applied hatha yoga. This releases blocked energy and frees the body’s own natural healing potential, thus restoring balance, health and harmony.

Wendy Hirst

The gentle stretching movements, energy line and pressure point work produces a uniquely relaxing yet energising and highly effective therapeutic treatment, ideal for anyone regardless of their level of flexibility.

Please wear loose comfortable clothing for the massage, so as not to restrict movement through the massage and avoid having a large meal two hours before the treatment. The massage can take between minimum of 1 hour, however a longer and more extensive massage covering the whole body will take 2 hours.

Thai Foot & Hand Massage

This is a massage of the lower legs and feet that originated in Thailand about 2000 years ago. As seen everywhere in Thailand today it has developed from traditional Thai massage and has elements of Shiatsu, Reflexology, Chinese massage and Yoga incorporated into the routine.

The massage involves hands on stretching and massage to ‘open’ Sen (energy) lines, along with the use of other techniques to stimulate the reflex points on the feet and hands, which correspond to the internal organs of the body.

The massage stimulates these reflex points to promote general health and well being, promote self healing, ease tension and increase flexibility.
